How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An established and growing Approved Building Control organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Building Inspector (Level 2D or above) to join its expanding team.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a competent and commercially focused Building Inspector seeking greater autonomy, a supportive working environment and the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of projects.

    The Role

    You will be responsible for delivering Building Control services predominantly across commercial developments, including industrial and warehouse facilities, offices, retail premises, healthcare and education buildings.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Conducting plan assessments and site inspections.

    * Ensuring compliance with the Building Regulations and associated legislation.

    * Providing practical, clear technical advice to clients, contractors and design teams.

    * Building and maintaining strong client relationships.

    * Managing your own portfolio of projects from inception through to completion.

    * Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a high-quality Building Control service.

    Qualifications

    * Registered Building Inspector status at Class 2D or above.

    * A qualification in Building Control, Building Surveying, Construction, Civil/Structural Engineering or a related discipline (HNC/HND, degree or equivalent professional qualification).

    * Membership of a relevant professional body, such as Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) or Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).

    Experience

    * Strong technical knowledge of the Building Regulations and associated legislation.

    * Demonstrable experience working across commercial construction projects.

    * Excellent communication, client-facing skills and report-writing skills.

    * The ability to work independently while managing a varied workload.
