Hays Education are currently working with a number of primary schools who are looking for Higher Level Teaching Assistant job to start in September. There are a mixture of roles that start with the potential for the role to be extended for the right candidate.
These job roles are available across both KS1 and KS2 in a mixture of mainstream and SEN schools and will require you to provide additional support to pupils. The current roles on offer include day-to-day, short-time and long-time roles depending on the school, so whatever it is you are looking for, we will have something to suit your needs. This is a great opportunity to experience different schools in the area to find the one that suits you.
Your new role
This role is to support class teachers who need to take time out of their days to plan and prepare lessons, as well as working on a 1:1 basis with pupils that are struggling/falling behind at work. You may be expected to cover various classes in both KS1 and KS2, so you need to be flexible and experience across both key stages is desirable but not essential, as the school are looking for an individual that is willing to learn. As you will be working as a PPA cover teacher, all lessons will be pre-planned, but it will be full class cover.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, you must possess recent experience working with children, ideally in an educational setting. As the schools are recruiting immediately, it would be ideal if you could jump straight into the role. However, do not let this put you off applying as we are always receiving new roles. SEN experience would also be desirable in this role. However, it is not essential as it will depend on the school you are placed in.
