How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Electrical Supervisor
    Employment Type: Self-Employed £(DOE) | 50+ hours per week available | Paid travel | Weekly invoicing (CIS scheme)

    Reports To: Senior Management & Project Leads

    Role Overview

    The Electrical Supervisor will oversee the installation, testing, and maintenance of large-scale electrical power generation systems. This position is key to ensuring that all electrical works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards. The successful candidate will lead site teams, manage quality control, and coordinate activities between field operatives, engineers, and project management to ensure the successful completion of all electrical elements within assigned projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    Safety & Compliance
    Ensure all electrical works comply with current regulations, codes, and standards.
    Promote a safe working culture by enforcing the correct use of PPE, conducting toolbox talks, and ensuring full adherence to H&S protocols.
    Identify and mitigate risks, maintaining compliance with all industry and site-specific safety requirements.
    Team Supervision & Leadership
    Lead and support a team of electricians and technicians throughout installation and maintenance activities.
    Allocate tasks effectively, monitor work quality, and ensure all work meets technical and safety standards.
    Provide hands-on supervision while fostering teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
    Installation & Maintenance
    Supervise and participate in the installation of electrical infrastructure, including wiring, LV panels, inverters, and associated equipment.
    Conduct inspections, testing, and commissioning to confirm system integrity and functionality.
    Troubleshoot faults, identify root causes, and implement corrective measures to maintain performance and reliability
    Project Coordination
    Liaise with project managers, engineers, and clients to plan and execute electrical works in line with project timelines and specifications.
    Provide accurate reporting on progress, material usage, and labour performance through daily and weekly reports.
    Support scheduling, resourcing, and communication to ensure seamless project deliver
    Training & Development
    Mentor and support junior electricians and technicians, encouraging best practices and technical skill development.
    Keep the team updated with new tools, technologies, and compliance standards relevant to the energy and electrical industries.
    Identify and pursue agreed professional development opportunities as part of a supported career pathway
    Inventory & Resource Management
    Manage and maintain electrical materials, tools, and consumables required for project delivery.
    Ensure adequate stock levels and timely procurement in line with project demands.
    Required Skills & Qualifications

    Education & Certifications

    NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or related discipline.
    ECS Gold Card.
    18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
    Inspection and Testing (BS2391 / 2392).
    AM2 qualified.
    Experience

    Minimum 5 years of electrical installation experience, ideally within utility-scale or renewable energy projects.
    Proven supervisory experience within electrical or engineering environments.
    Technical Skills

    In-depth understanding of electrical standards, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
    Ability to interpret and work from electrical drawings and schematics.
    Strong practical knowledge of solar inverters, LV systems, battery storage, and general electrical connections.
    Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
    Proficiency in site reporting software (e.g., iAuditor, Microsoft Office).
    Personal Attributes

    Strong leadership and communication skills.
    Quality-focused with meticulous attention to detail.
    Reliable, organised, and adaptable to changing project priorities.
    Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
    Full UK driving licence and own transport (mileage reimbursed at 25p per mile).
    Working Conditions

    Primarily site-based role across various outdoor environments, including rooftops and construction sites.
    Work schedules may vary depending on project requirements, with regular overtime available.
    Full compliance with safety protocols and use of protective equipment is mandatory.
