How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Control System Engineer

    Salary- £95,000.00

    Location – 139 Long Acre, WC2E 9AD

    Contract Type – -Full Time- Permanent- London Underground

    We are recruiting for two positions

    Overview of project/role

    The role is responsible for the safe and efficient repair and refurbishment of Power & Electrical SCADA Control system assets to allow the effective control of power supply to London Underground. This includes all work associated with the operation and maintenance of the London Underground Power SCADA system, from the top end computing, via the comms network to site based RTU’s.

    The role carries responsibility for the delivery of effective reliability by way of the implementation of appropriate plans for corrective and reactive maintenance; alongside the inspection, condition monitoring and testing regimes to ensure asset health in accordance with LU Standards. The role reports directly to the technical manager and is also responsible for leading a team of highly skilled operational staff.

    The post holder will strive to implement reliability improvements, ensure staff and contractors apply engineering best practice, thus providing a safe and reliable power network to paying customers.

    Key Accountabilities

    * The role carries responsibility for the delivery of effective work on SCADA assets and communication networks (twisted copper pilot and Fibre Optic) by way of the application of appropriate programming and plans for work in accordance with LU Standards.

    * Monitor, track and observe performance and safety objectives of staff and contractors.

    * Identify & develop technical innovations in line with industry best practice and other benchmarks to improve the safety, reliability and efficiency of assets which serve the London Underground Power Distribution Network.

    * Apply lean principles to ensure work is carried out cheaper, better and faster.

    * Represent the interests of Power & Electrical, interfacing as necessary with suppliers, manufacturers and service providers on matters relating to Operations and maintenance. Provide account at forums, committees and agencies accordingly in support Power & Electrical wider interests.

    * Meet the prescribed asset reliability targets and key performance indicators for the asset classes along with suggesting formulating and applying reliability improvements.

    * The role requires command and understanding of SCADA control equipment as well as repair techniques.

    * Report writing and review; supporting processes such as failure reports, technical reports, work instructions, project scopes, method statements, risk assessments, staff competencies, active monitoring, on site staff engagement, etc.
