How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Graduate Structural Engineer

    Leicester | Permanent | Up to £30,000

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Structural Engineer to join a well-established civil and structural engineering consultancy based in Leicester. This is an ideal role for a recent graduate looking to develop their technical skills within a supportive and collaborative environment while working towards professional chartership.

Established for over 15 years, this growing consultancy delivers a diverse range of projects across the residential, commercial and infrastructure sectors. Their work includes structural design for new-build developments, refurbishments, civil infrastructure schemes, drainage and flood risk projects, temporary works design, structural assessments and feasibility studies. The business is known for providing practical, buildable engineering solutions and maintaining close working relationships with clients, architects and contractors.

    The Role

As a Graduate Structural Engineer, you will work closely with experienced Chartered Engineers on a variety of projects from concept through to construction. You will gain exposure to both structural and civil engineering design, helping you develop a broad technical foundation early in your career.

    Responsibilities will include:

Assisting with the design of structural solutions for a range of building projects.
Producing engineering calculations and technical reports.
Supporting the preparation of drawings and design documentation.
    Undertaking site visits and inspections.
Working alongside senior engineers to develop practical and cost-effective solutions.
Liaising with architects, contractors and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
    Requirements

MEng or BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
    Strong academic background.
A genuine interest in building structures and engineering design.
    Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Motivated to work towards IStructE and/or ICE Chartership.
Familiarity with structural analysis software would be advantageous but is not essential.
    Why Join?

This consultancy offers something that many larger organisations cannot – direct access to experienced Chartered Engineers and hands-on involvement in projects from day one.

    Benefits include:

Structured training and mentorship from Chartered Engineers.
Full support towards ICE or IStructE Chartership.
Exposure to a wide variety of projects and sectors.
Genuine responsibility and project involvement from an early stage.
    Close-knit and collaborative team environment.
Clear career progression within a growing consultancy.
    Competitive salary and benefits package.
    Modern office environment in Leicester.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious graduate looking to accelerate their development within a supportive consultancy that invests heavily in training, technical excellence and long-term career progression.
