How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Fundraiser

    Do you have fundraising, sales, customer service, hospitality, retail, events or experience in another public-facing role

    We are looking for a passionate individual to build meaningful relationships with patients and their families, Hospital staff and the wider public.

    Don't worry if you're new to this, the team will provide comprehensive training to equip you with all the knowledge you need. Your enthusiasm is the most important thing!

    Position: Engagement Fundraiser

    Location: Cambridge, Biomedical Campus

    Salary: £26,000 to £28,000 per annum, pro-rata (depending on skills and experience)

    Hours: 2 x part time roles as part of a job share (18.75 hours per week) or 1 x full-time role (37.5 hours per week)

    Contract: Fixed Term 9-12 months

    About the Role

    This role is about more than raising funds. You will help people feel connected to a hospital that matters deeply to the community, showing how their support can make excellent care even better. Every conversation should be warm, honest and supporter-centred.

    You will support the face-to-face fundraising activity by recruiting and welcoming new regular givers, encouraging consent for future communications, and ensuring an excellent supporter experience from the first interaction.

    In this role, you will help grow long-term, sustainable income while keeping supporters at the heart of everything the charity does.

    You will be confident, resilient and enthusiastic, able to work towards targets while acting with integrity at all times.

    About You

    We are looking for someone who has the passion and personality to build lasting relationships.

    You will have:

    Experience in fundraising, sales, customer service, hospitality, retail, events or another public-facing role.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence speaking to a wide range of people.
    A warm, friendly and positive approach, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
    Resilience, self-motivation and the confidence to approach members of the public.
    Comfortable working towards agreed targets while maintaining high standards of supporter care.
    Strong attention to detail, particularly when capturing supporter information.
    Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently in different locations.
    A good team player who is willing to share learning and support colleagues.
    Empathy and a passion and enthusiasm for the work of ACT.
    Commitment to acting with integrity and following fundraising compliance requirements.
    Willingness to work in person, on site and at approved fundraising venues, including some outdoor or event-based activity.
    A Driving Licence or access to a car/transportation

    Full training will be provided, you just need to bring the enthusiasm and passion!
