How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Technical Manager (Operations)

    Central London

    Excellent opportunity for a Technical Manager, Laboratory Manager, Engineering Operations Manager or Technical Services Manager looking to broaden your operational leadership experience whilst playing a key role in shaping the future of engineering education and research.

    In this role you won't simply be managing laboratories you'll be leading a large multidisciplinary technical operation supporting world-class teaching and research.     The ideal candidate will have experience managing technical services within Higher Education, research or a complex laboratory environment. Candidates from industrial R&D or technical environments will also be considered where they can demonstrate strong operational leadership and exposure to laboratory or research facilities.

    The Role:

    *Lead the operational management of engineering laboratories, workshops and technical facilities.
    *Manage a multidisciplinary team of Technical Managers and Senior Technicians.
    *Drive operational excellence, health & safety, budgets and resource planning.
    *Support major engineering developments, research expansion and future teaching programmes.
    *Monday to Friday
    *Flexible and ability to work from home

    The Person:

    *Experience managing technical services, laboratories or engineering operations.
    *Strong leadership experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams.
    *Knowledge of laboratory compliance, operational governance and health & safety.
    *Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) within engineering, science or a related discipline.
