An exciting opportunity has arisen for a MEP Quantity Surveyor to join one of the UK's leading main contractors, working on one of the most significant infrastructure projects currently under construction in the UK.
Based in Birmingham, you will play a key commercial role in the delivery of a series of high-value headhouse structures and the associated mechanical and electrical works that will form part of the projects critical operational infrastructure. These complex buildings will house essential systems including ventilation, fire suppression, telecommunications, power and other key equipment to ensure the safe operation of the network once it becomes fully operational.

The Role
Reporting to a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of the project from procurement through to final account, ensuring the best possible commercial performance whilst maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and project stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include:
Subcontract procurement and package management
Cost reporting, forecasting and budgeting
Managing subcontractor accounts and payments
Valuations, variations and change control
Supporting the preparation and agreement of final accounts
Risk and opportunity management
Commercial support to operational project teams
Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures
About You
My client is keen to speak with MEP Quantity Surveyors who have experience working for main contractors on building or infrastructure projects.
Experience working on the construction of industrial buildings, distribution centres, logistics facilities, plant buildings, utility structures or similar complex construction projects would be particularly beneficial.
You will ideally possess:
Experience as a MEP Quantity Surveyor or M&E Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor or specialist subcontractor
Strong understanding of the NEC contract and sound commercial management skills
Experience managing subcontractor packages
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work within a fast-paced project environment
Relevant construction-related qualification (HNC/HND/Degree)
