How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Your new company

A leading organisation based in Manchester is looking to appoint a Payroll Specialist to join its expanding payroll team. The business operates within a complex payroll environment, managing multiple legal entities, pension schemes, benefits providers and variable pay arrangements. With ongoing investment in payroll processes and systems, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced payroll professional looking to join a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

    Your new role

As Payroll Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting the accurate and timely delivery of payroll across the organisation. Working closely with the Payroll manager, internal stakeholders and the outsourced payroll provider, you will be responsible for processing payroll data, validating payroll outputs, resolving queries and ensuring compliance with current legislation.
You will support ongoing payroll process improvements, investigate discrepancies and contribute towards creating a streamlined and efficient payroll function. This role offers excellent exposure to a varied and complex payroll operation and would suit someone who enjoys working independently while managing multiple priorities.

    What you'll need to succeed

To be successful, you will have previous end-to-end payroll experience within a busy and demanding payroll environment. You will possess strong knowledge of payroll legislation and have experience managing complex payroll inputs, including benefits, pensions and variable payments.
You'll be highly organised, detail-oriented and capable of building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Experience working alongside an outsourced payroll provider would be advantageous, with exposure to SD Worx viewed favourably.
