How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    A well-established organisation based in Manchester is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join their team. Operating within a complex payroll environment, the business manages multiple pension schemes, benefits providers, variable pay arrangements and legal entities, making this an exciting opportunity for a payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced and evolving setting. With a managed payroll service currently in place and ongoing improvements being made to systems and processes, this is an excellent time to join the organisation and make a real impact.

    Your new role
    As Payroll Manager, you will take ownership of payroll operations, acting as the key point of contact for payroll activity while working closely with internal stakeholders and the external payroll provider. You will oversee the delivery of an accurate and timely payroll service, ensuring compliance and maintaining high service standards across a complex employee population.You will support ongoing payroll process and systems improvements, helping to streamline ways of working and enhance efficiencies.
    This role requires someone who can confidently manage multiple priorities, resolve issues proactively and work with a high degree of autonomy in a demanding payroll environment.

    What you'll need to succeed

    To be successful in this role, you will have proven payroll management experience gained within a complex organisation. You will possess strong technical payroll knowledge, including experience managing multiple payroll inputs, pension schemes, benefits programmes and variable payments.You will be comfortable working independently, taking ownership of payroll processes and building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

    Experience working with outsourced or managed payroll services would be highly advantageous, and exposure to SD Worx would be particularly beneficial. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach to process improvement will be essential.
