How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

An ambitious property and construction consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its London team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cost professional to take the lead on a varied range of projects while becoming a key part of a collaborative and expanding business.

The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will manage commissions from initial concept through to completion, providing clear commercial advice and maintaining control of project costs at every stage. You will work directly with clients, coordinate with wider project teams, and ensure each scheme is delivered with strong financial oversight and attention to detail.

This position would suit a confident Senior Quantity Surveyor who enjoys operating autonomously, developing long-term client relationships, and supporting less experienced colleagues. The role offers meaningful responsibility from day one, alongside a clear route for continued progression.

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Key Responsibilities:

Leading cost management services across multiple live commissions

Developing budgets, cost plans, estimates, and feasibility advice

Managing tender documentation, contractor analysis, and procurement processes

Overseeing valuations, variations, change control, and final accounts

Producing detailed financial reports and advising clients on commercial risk

Representing the consultancy at client, design team, and progress meetings

Guiding junior surveyors and reviewing their work where required

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Candidate Requirements:

Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a relevant construction subject

Strong experience within a UK cost consultancy environment

Proven ability to deliver projects independently across pre- and post-contract stages

Good working knowledge of JCT contracts and established procurement methods

    MRICS qualified or approaching chartership

Commercially astute with strong client-facing and communication skills

Capable of managing competing priorities across several projects

    In Return:

    £70,000-£80,000 per annum

25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays

    Flexible and hybrid working arrangements

    Pension scheme

    Professional subscriptions covered

    Ongoing training and development

    Clear progression towards Associate level

Greater autonomy across a diverse project portfolio

If you are a Senior Quantity Surveyor considering your career opportunities, then please contact Dan McEvoy at Brandon James.
