How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

A leading multidisciplinary consultancy in London is looking to add an MEP Assistant Quantity Surveyor to its growing cost management team. This is a strong opportunity for an ambitious surveyor to build specialist expertise across mechanical and electrical packages while contributing to complex, high-value projects across the capital.

The successful MEP Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support senior colleagues throughout the full project lifecycle, from initial estimating and cost planning through to procurement, valuations, change control, and final account. The role offers regular interaction with clients, design teams, contractors, and specialist subcontractors, providing a well-rounded introduction to MEP cost consultancy.

This position would suit an MEP Assistant Quantity Surveyor with some relevant UK experience who is keen to develop technically, gain greater project responsibility, and work towards MRICS within a structured and supportive environment.

MEP Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Key Responsibilities:

Supporting the preparation of MEP estimates, cost plans, and tender documentation

Assisting with procurement exercises and the review of contractor returns

Helping manage interim valuations, variations, and change control

Producing cost reports and maintaining accurate commercial records

Attending design meetings, client reviews, and site inspections

Supporting the commercial close-out of mechanical and electrical packages

MEP Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Candidate Requirements:

Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline

Previous exposure to MEP, building services, or specialist subcontract packages

Experience within a UK consultancy, contractor, or subcontractor environment

A good understanding of pre- and post-contract cost management

Strong numerical, communication, and organisational skills

Working towards MRICS or keen to begin the APC process

    In Return:

    £40,000-£45,000 per annum

25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays

Structured APC support and professional mentoring

    Hybrid working arrangements

    Pension scheme

    Professional membership fees paid

    Specialist MEP training and development

Clear progression towards Quantity Surveyor level

If you are an MEP Quantity Surveyor considering your career opportunities, then please contact Dan McEvoy at Brandon James.
