How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is a hands-on shore-based position where you will take responsibility for vessel maintenance, repairs, technical integrity and operational availability. You will work closely with engineering teams, vessel personnel, suppliers, classification societies and flag authorities to ensure the fleet operates safely, reliably and efficiently.

The role will cover everything from planned maintenance and technical fault investigation to drydock planning, supplier management, spare parts and vessel budgets.

Duties and responsibilities of the USV Technical Superintendent:

    * Manage the technical maintenance and mechanical repairs of assigned vessels in accordance with the Planned Maintenance System.

    * Coordinate planned and reactive maintenance to minimise vessel downtime.

    * Investigate technical failures and carry out root-cause analysis.

    * Support engineers, technicians and external suppliers with technical fault-finding.

    * Ensure proactive maintenance is completed by vessel engineers and site teams.

    * Provide day-to-day technical advice and operational support across the assigned fleet.

    * Build and maintain effective relationships with key suppliers and service providers.

    * Monitor supplier performance and ensure repairs and services are completed to the required standards.

    * Coach and support vessel personnel in relation to onboard maintenance, administration and vessel-to-shore reporting.

    * Plan and coordinate vessel drydockings, refits, class surveys and flag inspections.

    * Manage vessel spare-parts inventories and arrange the purchase of equipment and technical services.

    * Ensure vessel inventories and maintenance records remain accurate and up to date.

    * Prepare, manage and monitor technical budgets for the assigned vessels.

    * Coordinate technical activities with engineering, marine, operational and commercial departments.

    * Supervise and provide technical guidance to engineers, technicians and mechanics.

    * Ensure vessels comply with applicable technical rules, regulations and industry standards.

    * Monitor regulatory changes and ensure the fleet remains compliant.

    * Support newbuild, vessel delivery and technical improvement projects where required.

    Qualifications and experience required:

    * A minimum of five years’ experience working as a Technical Superintendent, Vessel Manager or in a similar shore-based technical position.

    * A recognised marine engineering qualification.

    * Strong knowledge of vessel maintenance, repairs and Planned Maintenance Systems.

    * Previous experience planning drydockings, refits, class surveys and flag inspections.

    * Strong technical fault-finding and root-cause analysis capabilities.

    * Experience managing suppliers, spare parts and vessel maintenance budgets.

    * Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels.

    * Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.

    * Ability to manage several technical priorities within a fast-moving operational environment.

    * A collaborative approach with the ability to work independently and take ownership.
