How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Business Development Manager

    Location: High Wycombe, covering Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire
    Salary: £35,000–£50,000 basic DOE + uncapped bonus scheme
    Job Type: Permanent
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
    Benefits: Company car, bonus scheme, 24 days holiday + bank holidays, ongoing training

    We're looking for an ambitious Business Development Manager to join a successful and well-established business. This is a field-based role where you'll spend four days each week visiting customers across your territory and one day in the office managing quotations, administration and planning your pipeline.

    Key Responsibilities of the Business Development Manager:

    * Develop and grow relationships with both existing and prospective customers.

    * Identify and secure new business opportunities across your territory.

    * Work closely with the Internal Sales Team to generate enquiries, progress quotations and convert opportunities into profitable sales.

    * Take direct responsibility for achieving agreed sales and margin targets.

    * Plan and manage your own diary, customer visits and sales activity effectively.

    * Complete sales reports and provide regular updates to management.

    * Attend sales meetings, product training and occasional company functions outside normal working hours.

    * Work with branch management to continually improve efficiency and reduce costs.

    * Assist with the annual stocktake.

    * Work occasional Saturday mornings when required.

    * Provide occasional holiday and sickness cover for the wider team, supporting customer enquiries, quotations, purchase orders, trade counter activities and general administration.

    * Support goods-in procedures, including checking deliveries and maintaining accurate stock records.

    * Occasionally assist with picking, packing, loading and unloading customer orders.

    * Make local deliveries using a company vehicle when required and authorised.

    Key Requirements of the Business Development Manager:

    * Previous experience in business development, field sales or account management.

    * Confident winning new business and developing existing customer accounts.

    * Strong commercial awareness with the ability to achieve sales and margin targets.

    * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

    * Self-motivated with the ability to manage your own territory.

    * Well organised with good time management skills.

    * Comfortable using Microsoft Office and CRM systems.

    * Happy to travel across Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire.

    * Full UK driving licence.
