How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Providing technical support across specialist areas such as Resistant Materials, Product Design, Engineering, Graphics, and Construction.
Maintaining, servicing, and organising workshop machinery, tools, and equipment.
Ensuring all machinery and equipment are safe, compliant, and ready for use.
Supporting teachers and students during practical lessons where required.
Monitoring stock levels and ordering materials and equipment.
Maintaining an organised, clean, and safe workshop environment.
Carrying out regular health and safety checks and risk assessments.
Ensuring compliance with COSHH regulations and health and safety procedures.
Assisting with the creation of prototypes, displays, and project resources.
Supporting wider departmental administration where required.

Who the School is Looking For

The school is keen to hear from candidates who are practical, organised, and enthusiastic about supporting Design and Technology education.

    You should have:

Previous experience working as a DT Technician or within a Design and Technology, engineering, manufacturing, construction, or workshop environment.
Knowledge of workshop tools, machinery, and safe working practices.
A good understanding of health and safety procedures, including COSHH.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
The ability to prioritise workload and manage multiple tasks effectively.
    Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Confidence supporting both staff and students during practical activities.
Good IT skills for stock management and departmental administration.
A proactive and flexible approach to work.

    Why Apply?

Join a well-equipped and supportive secondary school in Hillingdon.
Work within a successful and creative Design and Technology department.
Play a vital role in delivering engaging, practical learning experiences.
Gain valuable experience in an educational setting.
    Access ongoing professional development opportunities.
    Full-time, term-time role starting September 2026.
Excellent opportunity for long-term progression within school technical support.
