How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to education?

Do you have excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and staff while promoting student wellbeing and attendance?

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Ruislip seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, compassionate, and organised Pastoral and Attendance Officer from September 2026. This full-time role is ideal for someone with experience in pastoral care, attendance, student welfare, or school administration who is committed to helping students thrive both academically and personally.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a dedicated pastoral team, supporting students' wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and personal development while making a lasting impact on their educational journey.

    The Role

As a Pastoral and Attendance Officer, you will work closely with Heads of Year, safeguarding staff, senior leaders, students, families, and external agencies to provide pastoral support, improve attendance, and remove barriers to learning.

    Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality across the school.
Following up unexplained absences and maintaining accurate attendance records.
Identifying attendance trends, persistent absence, and students requiring additional support.
Building positive relationships with students and providing pastoral support to promote wellbeing, engagement, and positive behaviour.
Supporting students experiencing social, emotional, behavioural, or attendance-related challenges.
Liaising with parents/carers regarding attendance, wellbeing, behaviour, and pastoral concerns.
Working collaboratively with Heads of Year, safeguarding staff, SEND teams, and external agencies to support vulnerable students.
Supporting attendance meetings, intervention plans, reintegration programmes, and pastoral strategies.
Maintaining accurate records using school systems such as SIMS, Arbor, or Bromcom.
Producing attendance and pastoral reports for senior leaders.
Supporting behaviour monitoring, restorative conversations, and student interventions where appropriate.
Ensuring all work is completed in line with safeguarding, confidentiality, and GDPR requirements.

Who the School is Looking For

The school is keen to hear from candidates who are passionate about supporting young people and making a meaningful difference to their educational experience.

    You should have:

Previous experience working with children or young people within a secondary school setting.
    Experience within an attendance role.
Experience using MIS systems such as SIMS, Arbor, or Bromcom.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Confidence communicating professionally with parents/carers, students, staff, and external agencies.
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
The ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
A proactive, calm, and solution-focused approach.
The ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people.
Good IT skills, including confidence using databases and school management systems.
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures, attendance legislation, and pastoral support is desirable.

    Why Apply?

Join a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Ruislip.
Make a genuine difference to students' wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, and educational outcomes.
Work alongside an experienced pastoral, safeguarding, and senior leadership team.
Gain valuable experience in pastoral care, attendance, safeguarding, and student support.
Build meaningful relationships with students, families, and education professionals.
    Full-time, term-time role starting September 2026.
Excellent opportunity for long-term progression within pastoral care, safeguarding, or wider education.
