How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Lead Planner

Are you an experienced Lead Planner looking to work on one of the UK's most technically challenging underground civil engineering projects?

Do you enjoy delivering complex infrastructure schemes from planning through to completion? Are you looking for a long-term opportunity where you'll play a key role in the successful delivery of a major tunnelling and heavy civil engineering programme?

If so, we'd like to hear from you.

We're recruiting for an experienced Lead Planner to join a project involving the construction of deep underground tunnels, large reinforced concrete shafts and associated civil engineering works. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a high-profile infrastructure scheme that will leave a lasting legacy while offering genuine long-term career progression.

    The Role

As Lead Planner, you'll be responsible for leading the planning function, ensuring the successful development, management and delivery of project programmes from pre-construction through to completion. Working closely with the Project Management, Construction, Commercial and Engineering teams, you'll play a key role in driving project performance and ensuring successful delivery.

    Key Responsibilities

Lead the planning function across the project.

Develop and maintain detailed, resource-loaded programmes.

Produce baseline, contract and working programmes.

Monitor progress and identify programme risks and mitigation strategies.

    Produce recovery programmes where required.

Coordinate subcontractor programmes and integrate them into the master programme.

Assess the impact of scope changes and compensation events.

Produce programme reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Work collaboratively with Construction, Commercial, Design and Engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Promote planning best practice throughout the project.

    What We're Looking For

Previous experience as a Lead Planner or Senior Planner within civil engineering.

Experience working on major infrastructure, tunnelling or heavy civil engineering projects.

    Strong Primavera P6 experience.

Experience supporting both tender and live project delivery.

Good understanding of NEC contracts and commercial principles.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

The ability to lead and mentor planning teams.

HNC in a construction-related discipline or equivalent industry experience.

    Package

    £80,000 - £85,000
