How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Join Trant Engineering and help shape the delivery of critical projects in a high-risk environment. 

    Trant Engineering is a leading EPC contractor with a strong reputation for delivering innovative engineering solutions across the UK and internationally. We’re now looking to expand our team with an Assistant Project Manager to play a key role in our delivery team at Fawley Refinery. This position reinforces an established, successful team with a breadth of expertise. 

    The Role As Assistant Project Manager you'll be supporting in the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects within a complex, high risk environment. You will be assisting with scheduling, budgeting, reporting, risk management, and coordination of site activities. The Assistant Project Manager acts as a critical interface between clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. The successful candidate will drive productivity, standards and quality across multiple projects.
    What You’ll Be Doing

    1) Technical Responsibilities - Project Support 

    Assist in developing project plans, schedules, and resource allocation.  

    Support day-to-day coordination of site and engineering activities.  

    Monitor project progress and highlight potential delays or risks. 

    Assist in ensuring projects meet technical, safety, and quality requirements.  

    Assist in tracking project budgets, costs, and forecasts. 

    Drive productivity, maintain standards and champion continuous improvement. 

    Help identify and report commercial or financial risks.  

    Maintain accurate project documentation and records. 

    2) Compliance & Risk  

    Support the identification, assessment, and mitigation of project risks.  

    Assist in ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and client standards.  

    Support quality assurance, inspections, and commissioning activities. 

    Assist in monitoring Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance on site. 

    3) Stakeholder Communication 

    High degree of client and subcontractor engagement.  

    Maintain communication with internal teams regarding project progress.  

    Help prepare project reports, presentations, and progress updates. 

    4) Team Coordination  

    Assist in coordinating site engineers, designers, and subcontractors.  

    Support collaboration, accountability, and effective communication across the project team.  

    Aid in the development and training of junior staff as required. 

    5) Key Interfaces: Internal Interfaces  

    Project Manager / Contracts Manager.  

    Site Engineers / Site Managers.  

    Operations & Engineering Teams. 

    Commercial / Contracts Teams.  

    Quality & HSE Teams External Interfaces.  

    Clients / End Users. 

    Subcontractors / Suppliers.  

    Consultants / Technical Advisors. 

    Regulators / Authorities.

    What We’re Looking For

    Essential 

    Degree, HND, HNC, or equivalent in Construction, Project Management and Civil Engineering,  

    Experience of working in High-Risk environments. 

    Knowledge of UK engineering, construction, and regulatory standards. 

    Experience supporting engineering or construction projects, ideally in Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Energy, Water or Utilities. 

    Experience assisting with project scheduling, reporting, and documentation. 

    Experience in coordinating teams or liaising with site staff. 

    Awareness of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations in high-risk environments. 
     
    Desirable 

    Experience of working in a Refinery or safety critical environments. 

    Familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar). 

    Experience supporting multi-site projects or complex project logistics. 

    Professional body membership (ICE, CIOB RICS etc)
