How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

An established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to strengthen its building structures team in Bristol following continued growth and a strong forward workload.

The business works across a broad range of UK projects, including residential, student accommodation, commercial, retail and industrial schemes. With the Bristol office continuing to develop, there is now an opportunity for an experienced Graduate Structural Engineer to join the team and contribute to the design and delivery of high quality building structures projects.

This position would suit a motivated graduate engineer with a few years’ structural design experience who is keen to develop technically, take on responsibility and progress within a growing regional team.

You will work closely with senior engineers, technicians and wider project teams, gaining exposure to varied schemes while helping shape the continued growth of the Bristol presence.

    Responsibilities

Assist with the structural design and analysis of building structures projects across a variety of sectors.
Prepare calculations, sketches, specifications and design information under the guidance of senior engineers.
Work closely with technicians to help translate design intent into clear, coordinated technical drawings and models.
Attend project meetings, site visits and design reviews, contributing to technical discussions and project coordination.
Develop practical engineering judgement while supporting the delivery of efficient, buildable and well considered structural solutions.

    Required Experience

A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Previous UK consultancy experience within building structures, ideally gained across a range of project sectors.
A developing understanding of structural design in materials such as steel, concrete, masonry and timber.
Experience preparing calculations and design information for building structures projects.
Working knowledge of relevant design codes, standards and engineering principles.
Familiarity with structural analysis and design software, along with Microsoft Office.
A proactive approach to learning, problem solving and taking ownership of tasks.
Good communication skills and the confidence to liaise with colleagues, clients and project teams.
An interest in progressing towards chartership, with support from experienced engineers.
Site experience or exposure to construction-stage support would be beneficial.
    Rewards

A salary ranging between £31,000 and £36,000 depending on experience
    Private healthcare
25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
Payment of one relevant professional body subscription.
    Flexible benefits
    Hybrid working
    Flexible hours
This is an excellent opportunity to join an established consultancy at an exciting stage of regional growth. As part of a developing Bristol presence, you will have the chance to make a visible impact, work closely with experienced professionals, broaden your project exposure and play a genuine role in shaping the future of the local team. For an ambitious graduate engineer looking for responsibility, support and long-term progression, this role offers the best of both worlds: the backing of a wider multidisciplinary business and the energy of a growing regional office
