How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    We are looking for a passionate and supportive Functional Skills Maths & English Tutor to provide one-to-one tuition?

    This is an ideal opportunity for a teacher looking for flexible summer work. Whether you're looking to keep your teaching skills active during the holidays, earn some additional income, or simply enjoy the rewards of making a real difference to one student's progress, this could be a great fit.

    You'll be working closely with one student, providing personalised support in Maths and English and helping them to build both their academic skills and confidence.

    What You'll Be Doing

    Deliver engaging, one-to-one Functional Skills Maths and English tuition.
    Support a student with an EHCP, adapting lessons to their individual needs.
    Create personalised and engaging lesson plans that target learning gaps.
    Use your teaching expertise to make lessons accessible, encouraging and enjoyable.
    Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback.
    Build the student's confidence, motivation and independence in Maths and English.
    Create a positive learning environment where the student feels supported and able to succeed.

    We're Looking For Someone Who Has

    At least 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience in Functional Skills Maths and / or English.
    Experience supporting students with SEN.
    A patient, encouraging and adaptable approach to teaching.
    Strong communication skills and the ability to tailor lessons to individual learning needs.
    The right to work in the UK.
    An Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to undertake one.Desirable Experience & Qualifications

    QTS
    Experience working with young people with EHCPs.
    Experience delivering Functional Skills or targeted Maths and English intervention.
    Experience working in SEN, alternative provision or one-to-one tuition.Interested?
