How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you an experienced engineer or engineering leader from a military, defence, aerospace, manufacturing or other highly regulated environment?

Are you used to leading people, solving complex problems and improving the way things are done?

DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.

This could be an excellent opportunity to bring your technical leadership and operational experience into a world-class manufacturing environment working with cutting-edge technology used in some of the most demanding industries globally.

Our client is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a team of eight Manufacturing Engineers at a world-class manufacturing facility near Middlesbrough.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will have the opportunity to make a genuine impact across engineering, manufacturing, production support and continuous improvement.

You will lead and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers, ensuring the operation receives a high level of engineering support across a range of activities, including:

    Production support and technical problem-solving

Servicing, commissioning and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)

    New Product Introduction (NPI)

Introducing new equipment, processes and technologies

Driving departmental KPIs and operational performance

Improving quality, efficiency and manufacturing capability

    Leading continuous improvement initiatives

Supporting safety, compliance and engineering standards

    Ideally, you will have:

Experience in an engineering leadership or senior engineering role within a manufacturing or production environment

Experience working with complex electro-mechanical products or systems

A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline, such as Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic or Manufacturing Engineering

Experience of Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen or similar continuous improvement methodologies

Strong experience of production support, engineering improvement and technical problem-solving

Experience within Defence, Aerospace or another highly regulated industry

If you're an experienced engineering professional or an ex-military engineer with the technical leadership experience to make the transition into this environment - this could be an excellent next step in your career.

To apply or find out more, please send a copy of your CV, together with a brief note outlining why this opportunity would be the ideal next step for you, to Liz Walsh at Ex-Mil Recruitment Ltd
