How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An established and highly regarded main contractor is seeking an experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of a landmark residential development in East London. This flagship project comprises over 400 residential units alongside associated infrastructure, public realm, and external works.

    This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for the successful delivery of the project from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring safety, quality, programme, commercial performance, and client satisfaction.

    Key Responsibilities

    -Take overall responsibility for the planning, management, and successful delivery of a large-scale residential development.

    -Lead and manage the project team, including Project Managers, Site Managers, Commercial, Design, Planning, and technical teams.

    -Develop and maintain strong relationships with the client, consultants, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.

    -Ensure the project is delivered safely, in compliance with all current health and safety legislation and company procedures.

    -Oversee programme management, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to maintain project milestones.

    -Work closely with the commercial team to ensure robust cost control, reporting, procurement, and financial performance.

    -Chair project meetings and provide regular progress updates to senior management and the client.

    -Drive quality standards throughout the project, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with specifications and regulatory requirements.

    -Manage design coordination and ensure buildability issues are resolved efficiently.

    -Lead project planning and logistics to ensure efficient site operations.

    -Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture across the project team.

    -Ensure successful handover, commissioning, and completion in line with contractual obligations.

    Candidate Requirements

    -Proven experience as a Project Director or Senior Project Manager delivering major residential developments for a recognised main contractor.

    -Demonstrable track record of delivering large-scale residential projects valued in excess of £100 million.

    -Experience managing projects comprising 300+ residential units, ideally high-rise or mixed-use developments.

    -Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate multidisciplinary teams.

    -Excellent commercial awareness and experience working alongside commercial teams to deliver profitable projects.

    -Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, sequencing, programme management, and design coordination.

    -Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills.

    -Comprehensive understanding of UK Building Regulations, health and safety legislation, and quality management systems.

    -Ability to manage multiple workstreams while maintaining programme, quality, and budget objectives.

    Qualifications

    Essential:

    -Degree or HNC/HND in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.

    -SMSTS.

    -CSCS Black Manager Card.

    -First Aid at Work (preferred).

    -Full UK driving licence.
