How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Raise and manage purchase orders in accordance with company procedures.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers.
Monitor material lead times to ensure timely deliveries to site.
Work closely with project teams to forecast material requirements and resolve supply issues.
Track orders from placement through to delivery, ensuring accuracy and resolving any discrepancies.
Review supplier performance, identifying opportunities for cost savings and improved service.
Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier databases.
Ensure purchased materials comply with project specifications, quality standards and relevant regulations.
Support the commercial team by identifying value engineering opportunities where appropriate.
Keep up to date with market trends, material availability and price fluctuations. Skills and Experience:

Previous experience as a Materials Buyer within the construction industry.
Knowledge of building materials used in refurbishment, restoration or general construction projects.
Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Experience using procurement or accounting software would be advantageous.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external suppliers.
A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving abilities. What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is commercially minded, reliable and capable of working in a fast-paced construction environment. You'll be a confident communicator with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to ensuring projects are supplied efficiently, cost-effectively and on schedule.
