How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Construction Estimator

    Location: Oldham, OL9
    Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
    Job Type: Permanent

    We are recruiting for an experienced Construction Estimator to join a well-established contractor based in Oldham.

    The company delivers a wide range of new-build and restoration projects for both public and private-sector clients. Projects cover a variety of sectors, including residential, extra care, education and commercial developments.

    The Role

    As Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive tenders for a varied portfolio of projects.

    Your duties will include:

    * Reviewing tender documents, drawings and specifications

    * Preparing detailed cost estimates for new-build and restoration projects

    * Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations

    * Producing bills of quantities and tender submissions

    * Identifying project risks, opportunities and potential cost savings

    * Liaising with clients, architects, consultants and internal project teams

    * Attending pre-tender and post-tender meetings

    * Maintaining accurate records of tenders and project costs

    * Supporting the commercial and operational teams during project handover

    The Candidate

    The successful candidate will ideally have:

    * Previous estimating experience within the construction industry

    * Experience pricing new-build, refurbishment or restoration projects

    * A good understanding of construction methods, materials and costs

    * The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

    * Strong numerical, analytical and communication skills

    * Experience obtaining and negotiating subcontractor quotations

    * Good IT skills and experience using estimating software

    * The ability to manage multiple tenders and meet deadlines

    Experience working across residential, education, extra care or commercial projects would be advantageous.
