Our client, a prominent player in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Quality Engineer to join their team on a contract basis at the Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth. This role involves developing and implementing quality assurance and control processes to ensure that products and services meet stringent quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Developing and executing inspection and testing procedures
Conducting root cause analysis and supporting problem-solving activities
Monitoring production or construction processes for quality compliance
Reviewing documentation and verifying that materials/products meet specifications
Supporting audits and quality system implementations
Assisting in corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes
Collecting and analysing quality data to identify trends and improvements
Job Requirements:
Professionally qualified operator and/or graduate
Quality-related qualifications and industry experience, particularly with ISO standards
Experience in a similar role, preferably within the Nuclear and Defence sector
CSCS Green Labourer certification
Strong understanding of quality principles, inspection methods, and testing
Familiarity with quality tools such as FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis
Knowledge of relevant standards, specifically ISO 9001 and industry-specific standards
Basic statistical and data analysis skills
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required, which can take up to 8 weeks. Please note that eligibility for certain roles may be affected by your place of birth, nationality, and any current or former citizenship and residency. Working hours are 45 hours per week, from 07:30 to 17:00, reporting into the Principal Quality Engineer.
