How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Tradewind are recruiting! Are you looking for your next role teaching Design & Technology in a great school located in Newham?

Tradewind Recruitment is currently working with this Client, a vibrant and inclusive secondary school in the borough of Newham, to appoint a passionate and creative Design & Technology Teacher to join their team on a full-time basis from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic DT specialist to inspire creativity, innovation, and practical skills across Key Stage 3 within a supportive and ambitious school environment.

This Client is a well-regarded secondary school that has been recognised in its most recent Ofsted inspection for its strong leadership, inclusive ethos, and commitment to student achievement. Inspectors praised the school's positive learning culture, effective teaching, and the high levels of engagement from students. The report also highlighted the school's commitment to developing students' practical skills, creativity, and technical understanding through a broad and engaging curriculum.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging Design & Technology lessons across Key Stage 3, developing students' design thinking, problem-solving, and practical making skills. You will be expected to plan and deliver high-quality lessons, assess student progress, contribute to curriculum development, and support enrichment opportunities that encourage innovation and creativity across the department.

Job role requirements include teaching Design & Technology across KS3, strong subject knowledge within DT, the ability to deliver creative and well-structured practical lessons, effective classroom and behaviour management, and a commitment to supporting students in developing both technical skills and confidence. Experience or knowledge of areas such as Product Design, Resistant Materials, Graphics, Engineering, or Food Technology would be desirable. You should also be willing to contribute to departmental projects, exhibitions, and enrichment activities.

The ideal candidate will hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, a degree in Design & Technology or a related subject, and experience teaching DT within a secondary school setting. A strong understanding of the KS3 Design & Technology curriculum is essential. The successful teacher will be innovative, organised, and passionate about design and technology, with the ability to inspire students of all abilities. ECTs with strong DT training and placement experience are encouraged to apply.

This Client offers a supportive and creative Technology department, well-equipped workshops, excellent resources, and a strong commitment to staff development and wellbeing. The school fosters a collaborative environment where creativity, innovation, and practical learning are encouraged and valued. The school is based in Newham and benefits from excellent transport links, including nearby Underground, DLR, and Overground stations, as well as extensive bus routes connecting across East London and surrounding areas.

Working with Tradewind Recruitment also provides access to a range of benefits including competitive pay in line with London MPS/UPS, ongoing support from a dedicated consultant, and unlimited access to National College free CPD courses to support your professional growth and career development.

Interviews are to be arranged immediately, and the school will conduct interviews once CVs have been shortlisted, so do not delay in applying for this role.
