How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the Role
    We are looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to maintain, service and repair a recycling and waste handling equipment at customer sites across the North West.
    The role will mainly involve travelling within a radius of your home, with occasional travel further afield when required (a company van is provided). You will be responsible for installing, fault-finding, servicing and repairing compactors, balers and other specialist equipment, ensuring machines remain safe, reliable and operational.
    Key Responsibilities
    As a Field Service Engineer, you will:
    * Carry out planned preventative maintenance on recycling and waste handling equipment.
    * Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
    * Replace faulty components using hand and power tools.
    * Install, service and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic and electronic systems.
    * Test, recommission and verify equipment following repairs.
    * Assist with the installation and commissioning of new machinery, including three-phase electrical connections.
    * Prepare repair quotations and provide technical recommendations where required.
    * Complete service reports, inspection records
    * Ensure compliance with all health & safety legislation and customer site procedures.
    Experience
    * Experience in servicing, maintaining or repairing recycling, waste management or similar industrial equipment.
    * Strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic fault-finding skills.
    * The ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.
    * Experience using diagnostic and testing equipment.
    * Knowledge of single-phase and three-phase electrical systems.
    * Basic welding skills for minor repairs.
    * A good understanding of health & safety legislation and safe working practices.
    * The ability to work independently and manage your own schedule
