How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Key Account Manager - The Opportunity

Our client is one of the UK's leading distributors of roofing materials, building materials and construction products. Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced Key Account Manager to manage and develop a portfolio of high-value roofing and construction contractors across the Central Belt of Scotland.

This Key Account Manager position is focused on developing existing business rather than managing smaller transactional accounts. You'll inherit an established portfolio of key customers with responsibility for increasing spend, strengthening relationships and identifying new commercial opportunities.

The territory primarily covers Glasgow and the west of the Central Belt, although applicants from anywhere across the Central Belt are encouraged to apply.

    The Role

As Key Account Manager, you will:

Manage and grow a portfolio of key customer accounts worth several million pounds annually.
Develop long-term relationships with roofing contractors, main contractors, housebuilders, developers and commercial construction customers.
Increase customer spend through proactive account management, regular customer visits and structured account planning.
Identify opportunities to introduce additional roofing products, building materials and associated construction products.
Work closely with branch teams to ensure exceptional customer service and account support.
Negotiate pricing, commercial agreements and supply arrangements.
Produce accurate sales forecasts, pipeline reports and account plans.
Win additional business from existing accounts while identifying new key account opportunities.
Represent the business professionally across both residential and commercial roofing

    About You

To succeed as Key Account Manager, you'll be commercially driven, relationship focused and passionate about growing customer accounts.

We're interested in speaking with candidates who have experience as a:

Experience selling roofing products would be advantageous, including flat roofing, pitched roofing, insulation or associated building envelope products. However, our client is open-minded and recognises that product knowledge can be taught. They are equally interested in candidates with the right attitude, strong account management skills and a proven ability to grow customer relationships.

You should be able to demonstrate:

Successful Key Account Management or Account Management
A track record of growing existing customer accounts.
Strong relationship-building and commercial negotiation skills.
Experience selling into contractors, developers, housebuilders, merchants or construction businesses.
    Excellent communication and presentation skills.
A proactive, organised and self-motivated approach.
    Full UK driving licence.

    Package

    £50,000-£55,000 basic salary
    Annual bonus
    Company car or car allowance
    Pension
    Excellent company benefits
    Ongoing training and career progression
Opportunity to join a market-leading business with an established customer base

    Apply

If you're an experienced Key Account Manager, Account Manager, Area Sales Manager or Business Development Manager with experience in roofing, building materials, construction products or specialist distribution, we'd love to hear from you.

Whether your background is in roofing, insulation, building envelope products, construction products or a builders' merchant environment, this is an excellent opportunity to join a leading business and develop a portfolio of major customer accounts across Scotland.
