How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Senior / Principal Civil Infrastructure Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior or Principal Civil Infrastructure Engineer to join a well-established, privately owned Civil & Structural Engineering Consultancy at its growing London office, conveniently located just a five-minute walk from Farringdon Station. With an excellent reputation for technical delivery and a collaborative culture, the business continues to expand through repeat commissions across the residential, commercial, industrial, logistics, education, healthcare, retail and regeneration sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a multidisciplinary consultancy where Civil and Structural Engineers work seamlessly together to deliver practical, innovative and commercially focused design solutions. The civil engineering team is involved from the earliest stages of development, providing infrastructure solutions from initial feasibility and planning advice through to detailed design, technical approvals and construction support.

You'll play a key role in delivering highways and drainage schemes for a diverse portfolio of development projects, ranging from bespoke commercial developments and complex brownfield regeneration sites through to major residential schemes and industrial and logistics facilities. Working closely with experienced Directors and fellow technical specialists, you'll remain hands-on with design while taking increasing responsibility for project leadership, client relationships and the development of junior engineers.

Your responsibilities will include the design and coordination of highways, drainage and external works, producing drainage strategies, levels, earthworks, technical reports, specifications and construction drawings. You'll lead the delivery of adoptable infrastructure schemes, managing the approval process for Section 38, Section 278 and Section 104 agreements while coordinating with architects, contractors, utility providers, local authorities and the wider design team to deliver successful developments.

At Senior or Principal level, you'll also provide technical guidance across multiple projects, undertake design reviews, mentor Engineers and Technicians and support the planning and management of project resources. You'll have the opportunity to influence technical standards, improve internal processes and play an important part in the continued growth of the London office.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in UK development infrastructure, with proven experience delivering highways and drainage schemes within a consultancy environment. You'll be proficient in AutoCAD and have experience using software such as Civil 3D, InfoDrainage or MicroDrainage. A thorough understanding of the UK development approval process, including Section 38, Section 278 and Section 104 agreements, is essential, alongside the ability to produce practical, buildable and commercially aware engineering solutions.

Chartered or Incorporated status would be advantageous, particularly for Principal-level applicants, although the consultancy is equally keen to speak with experienced Engineers who are actively progressing towards professional qualification and are looking for the next step in their career.

The business has invested heavily in digital engineering and BIM, encouraging the use of modern design tools, 3D modelling and collaborative project delivery to improve efficiency and coordination across its multidisciplinary teams. It is an environment where technical excellence, innovation and continuous improvement are genuinely encouraged.

In return, you'll join a supportive consultancy that offers the autonomy to make decisions, the backing of experienced Directors and a clear pathway for career progression. Alongside a competitive salary, the company offers hybrid working, an annual performance bonus, private healthcare, generous pension contributions, professional membership fees, structured CPD, electric vehicle salary sacrifice, holiday purchase scheme and regular social events.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior or Principal Civil Infrastructure Engineer looking to join a progressive consultancy where you'll work on technically challenging projects, influence the direction of a growing office and continue developing your career within a highly respected engineering practice.
