How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Help Shape the UK’s Energy Future

    Insurance Manager Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C

    As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the CWA Wide Section.

    What will you do?

    The Insurance Manager will oversee all aspects of the Civil Works Alliance's insurance program, ensuring appropriate risk transfer and comprehensive protection across construction operations. This is a strategic role reporting to senior management, where you will:

    • Develop, implement, and manage the Civil Works Alliance's insurance strategy, working collaboratively with the Client (Sizewell C Limited) and the three Implementation Participants (Balfour Beatty, Bouygues, and Laing O'Rourke)

    • Manage relationships with external insurance brokers, insurers, loss adjusters, and insurance leads across all partner organisations

    • Arrange and administer insurance policies specifically tailored to the Civil Works Alliance's needs, managing annual renewals and tender processes

    • Review contractual insurance requirements across the main contract and subcontracts, advising commercial and project teams on insurance provisions

    • Manage and coordinate insurance claims from notification through to settlement, investigating incidents affecting insurance exposure and supporting claims resolution

    • Monitor claims trends and identify opportunities to reduce future losses and minimise financial exposure

    • Maintain accurate insurance records, certificates, and policy documentation; coordinate the issue of insurance certificates to the Client and stakeholders

    • Advise procurement teams on supply chain insurance requirements, reviewing subcontractor documentation and ensuring compliance

    • Work alongside Health & Safety and Risk teams to improve risk management processes and business continuity planning

    • Provide senior management with advice regarding emerging insurance risks and prepare reports on insurance costs, claims performance, and market developments

    What are we looking for?

    We are seeking an experienced insurance professional with a proven track record in the construction or infrastructure sector. You will demonstrate:

    Essential Experience & Knowledge:

    • Significant experience managing insurance within construction or infrastructure environments

    • Strong knowledge of UK construction insurance products, risk management, and complex claims handling

    • Familiarity with standard construction contracts, including NEC4 contracts

    • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interface with those unfamiliar with insurance matters

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent written and verbal communication skills

    • Highly organised with meticulous attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)

    • Capability to work autonomously and unsupervised while effectively collaborating with internal teams and external partners

    Desirable Qualifications:

    • Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualification or equivalent, or working towards Chartered status

    • Degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business, or a related discipline

    • Experience on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects

    • Understanding of contract law relating to insurance obligations
