How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Andy File Associates Limited is working as a Recruitment Agency on behalf of our client with regards to this permanent position.

    Personal Injury Lawyer

    Location: Sheffield
    Reports to: Team Manager / Head of Legal Practice
    Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday (office-based)
    Salary: Up to £55,000 per annum (depending on experience)

    The Role

    Our client is seeking an experienced Personal Injury Lawyer (Solicitor or CILEX practitioner) to join their established team in Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity to manage a varied litigated personal injury caseload, with a particular focus on intermediate and multi-track claims.

    Working closely with clients, Counsel, medical agencies and other third parties, you will provide clear, practical advice and deliver exceptional levels of client service throughout the life of each claim.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Case Management

    * Manage a litigated personal injury caseload with minimal supervision, including intermediate and multi-track matters.

    * Proactively manage priorities, deadlines and court timetables.

    * Draft and prepare all case documentation, including:

    * Pleadings

    * Application notices

    * Disclosure lists

    * Witness statements

    * Schedules of loss

    * Instructions and briefs to Counsel

    * Trial bundle indexes

    * Case summaries

    * Accurately value personal injury claims using Judicial College Guidelines and relevant case law.

    * Prepare special damages claims and future loss calculations.

    * Utilise Part 36 offers effectively to achieve the best possible outcomes.

    * Complete internal processes including defence reviews, witness statement exchanges and authorities to proceed to trial.

    * Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, Civil Procedure Rules and best practice.

    * Deliver exceptional client care throughout the lifecycle of each claim.

    * Work collaboratively with colleagues and escalate complex technical matters where appropriate.

    You will possess:

    Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy caseload.
    Strong client care skills with a proactive and professional approach.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    High attention to detail.
    The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    Sound judgement with the ability to identify fraud, fundamental dishonesty and escalating complex matters where appropriate.
    Experience Required
    Qualified Solicitor or CILEX practitioner with practising rights.
    Demonstrable experience managing litigated personal injury claims.
    Experience handling intermediate and/or multi-track personal injury cases is essential.
    Experience dealing with Road Traffic Accident, Employer's Liability and Public Liability claims.
    Experience using the Damages Claims Portal (DCP).
    Experience progressing claims through to settlement or trial.
    Experience drafting pleadings, witness statements, schedules of loss and instructions to Counsel.
    Experience using case management systems, with Proclaim experience desirable.
    Strong knowledge of liability, Civil Procedure Rules and personal injury litigation.
    Experience gathering evidence, assessing prospects and providing practical legal advice.
    Experience liaising with Counsel, medical experts and other third parties.
    Qualifications and Technical Skills
    Qualified Solicitor or CILEX with practising rights.
    Strong understanding of Civil Procedure Rules and personal injury litigation.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
    Confident telephone manner.
    Ability to manage deadlines and work towards targets.
