How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Commissioning Engineer (Switchgear)

    South England

    Experience Dependent + Bonus + Commercial Vehicle + Private Medical

    An exciting opportunity for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join a leading engineering organisation delivering critical electrical infrastructure projects across the UK. Working within a highly skilled service team, you'll play a key role in commissioning, testing and supporting electrical distribution systems for customers across a range of industrial, utility and infrastructure environments.

    This is a field-based position offering exposure to complex projects, advanced technologies and excellent long-term career development opportunities.

    Responsibilities - Commissioning Engineer (Switchgear)

    Commission, test and fault-find LV, 11kV and 33kV electrical distribution systems.
    Commission and configure switchgear, protection relays and associated control equipment.
    Support installation, maintenance, repair, upgrade and retrofit activities.
    Deliver technical support both remotely and on customer sites.
    Assist with SCADA systems including commissioning, troubleshooting and field support.
    Produce commissioning reports and project documentation to a high standard.
    Provide technical guidance and consultancy to customers and internal stakeholders.
    Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring a high level of service delivery.
    Identify opportunities for additional service, maintenance and upgrade solutions.
    Ensure all activities are completed safely and in line with industry standards and company procedures.
    Travel throughout the UK to support customer projects, including occasional overnight stays.
    Experience / Qualifications - Commissioning Engineer (Switchgear)

    Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
    Minimum 5 years' experience within switchgear commissioning, testing or field service engineering.
    Strong knowledge of electrical protection commissioning and relay testing.
    Experience working with LV, 11kV and 33kV electrical networks.
    Proven background supporting and commissioning SCADA systems.
    Experience using protection testing and commissioning software.
    Strong understanding of current electrical safety legislation and best practice.
    Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
    Ability to work independently and manage workload across multiple sites.
    Full UK driving licence.
