About the Role
Tradewind Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of an outstanding secondary school in Sunderland, seeking a talented and enthusiastic Design & Technology Teacher to join their successful department from September 2026.
This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to work within a high-achieving and supportive school renowned for its excellent standards, strong leadership, and commitment to student success. The successful candidate will teach Design & Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging and innovative lessons that inspire students to develop practical skills, creativity, and confidence.

Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging Design & Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
Assess, monitor, and support student progress
Create a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment
Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement
Ensure all practical activities are delivered safely and in line with workshop health and safety requirements
Contribute positively to the wider school community

Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Experience teaching Design & Technology within a UK secondary school
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
Confidence delivering both practical and theory-based lessons
Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for Design & Technology
Knowledge of workshop health and safety regulations
Two professional references covering the last two years
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
A proactive, reliable, and adaptable approach to teaching
