How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you an experienced Building Surveyor looking for a role where your technical expertise can make a real difference to people’s lives?

A leading public sector client is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Surveyor to join its Housing Adaptations team, delivering high-quality Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) projects that help residents maintain independence and remain safely in their own homes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled surveyor with experience in housing adaptations, construction projects, CDM regulations, and project management to take ownership of a varied portfolio of schemes.

    The Role

As a Senior Technical Surveyor, you will manage projects from inception through to completion, acting as Principal Designer under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and ensuring that all works are delivered safely, compliantly, and to a high standard.

    You will be responsible for:

    * Assessing and delivering Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) funded adaptations.

    * Surveying properties and developing practical solutions to meet residents’ needs.

    * Producing specifications, schedules of work, and AutoCAD drawings.

    * Managing projects ranging from small adaptations through to complex schemes valued up to £300,000.

    * Preparing and submitting Planning and Building Regulation applications.

    * Managing contractors, quotations, tenders, budgets, and project costs.

    * Carrying out site inspections, monitoring quality, and resolving technical issues.

    * Working closely with residents, families, occupational therapists, healthcare professionals, contractors, landlords, and other stakeholders.

    * Supporting technical officers and promoting best practice within the Housing Adaptations service.

    About You

You will be an experienced Building Surveyor, Housing Surveyor, or Architectural professional with a strong understanding of residential construction and adaptation works.

    You will ideally have:

    * A degree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Surveying, Architecture, or a related discipline.

    * Experience delivering housing projects, adaptations, or Disabled Facilities Grants.

    * Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, Planning requirements, and construction processes.

    * Experience acting as Principal Designer or working under CDM Regulations 2015.

    * Experience preparing specifications, drawings, risk assessments, and construction information.

    * Good understanding of contractor management, procurement, and cost control.

    * Excellent communication skills and the ability to work sensitively with residents with a wide range of needs.

    Why Apply?

This role offers the opportunity to work on meaningful housing projects that directly improve the lives of residents. You will be joining a professional public sector team focused on delivering safe, accessible, and high-quality adaptations while benefiting from flexible hybrid working arrangements.

If you are passionate about delivering excellent housing services and have the technical expertise to manage complex adaptation projects, we would like to hear from you
