How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Heavy Automotive Tutor - £32,000 - £37,000 per annum

    We are Mantra Learning, one of the UK’s leading logistics learning and development organisations. We are an Ofsted grade 2 independent training provider who have specialised in providing training within the sector for over 58 years. The Manchester site is well established as one of the largest specialist logistics training facilities in the UK.

    Through our two key brands, The Job Gym and The National Logistics Academy we help thousands of individuals each year to gain new skills. This enables our learners to obtain employment within the logistics sector and drives the long-term growth of the industry.

    We work with some of the biggest brands in the country, including ALDI, GXO and Travis Perkins, delivering approximately 400 Apprenticeships and over 1000 HGV licences each year. The organisation is dedicated to deliver programmes that develop the ‘Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours to enable learners to thrive in life and work’.

    We have an exciting opportunity for a Heavy Automotive Tutor to join our friendly team. The position is full-time, working 37.5 hours a week based in Middleton, Greater Manchester.

    The Role

    As a Heavy Automotive Tutor, your purpose is to inspire, motivate and engage a diverse range of learners, supporting them to develop the technical skills, knowledge and behaviours required for a successful career in the heavy vehicle industry. You will deliver high-quality training, assess apprentices and learners, and regularly monitor and review their progress to ensure they achieve their full potential.

    You will have a strong background in the maintenance and repair of heavy vehicles and an understanding of current industry practices and emerging technologies.

    Key Responsibilities

    Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

    Deliver engaging practical and theoretical training to apprentices and learners within the training centre.
    Assess learners against programme and awarding body requirements, ensuring all training elements are completed within agreed timescales.
    Monitor, review and verify learner progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help them succeed.
    Promote professional standards, positive workplace behaviours and industry best practice.
    Upload and maintain learner evidence using online learning and assessment platforms.
    Participate in teaching, learning and assessment observations to continually improve the learner experience.
    Ensure all practical activities are carried out safely, promoting and maintaining high standards of health and safety within the training centre.
    Keep up to date with developments in heavy vehicle technology, legislation and industry standards.
    A commitment to supporting learners and promoting an inclusive learning environment.Essential

    A relevant Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent industry qualification).
    English and Maths qualifications at Level 2 (GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent).

    Desirable

    Experience of coaching, mentoring or training apprentices or colleagues.
    Knowledge of modern heavy vehicle technologies, including diagnostics, emissions systems and alternative fuel or electric vehicles.
    A recognised teaching or assessor qualification, or a willingness to work towards one (training provided).
