How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Civil Engineer (Drainage Design)

    The Opportunity
    As a Civil Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and delivery of civil engineering infrastructure projects, working closely with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders.
    You will be responsible for:
    ·Producing foul and surface water drainage designs for a variety of developments.
    ·Preparing drainage strategies and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) designs.
    ·Undertaking flood risk assessments and supporting planning applications.
    ·Designing highways, external works and associated infrastructure.
    ·Liaising with local authorities, statutory bodies and multidisciplinary design teams.
    ·Producing engineering calculations, technical reports and design drawings.
    ·Supporting projects from initial concept through to detailed design and construction.
    ·Contributing ideas that improve project delivery and engineering solutions.
     
    What You'll Bring
    To be successful in this Civil Engineer role, you should have:
    ·Experience in civil engineering design, particularly drainage design.
    ·Knowledge of SuDS, surface water and foul drainage design principles.
    ·Experience using industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D, with drainage software experience beneficial.
    ·Understanding of UK design standards and relevant legislation.
    ·Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
    ·The ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively within a team.
    ·A Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
    ·Working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous but is not essential.
