How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Introduction

    Role

    Senior quantity surveyor responsible for both the Contract and Subcontract administration of Design & Build Subcontracts and will be working within the headhouse Construction Commercial team. Reporting to the Commercial Package Manager and working closely with other commercial team members. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be able to display the following competencies:

    * Experience in using Contract Management Systems (i.e. CEMAR).

    * Experience in producing bill of quantities from take-offs from drawing and models.

    * Experience in the procurement of Subcontract Packages, ensuring clarity of scope, interface management and inclusion of all technical and commercial obligations.

    * Knowledge of NEC on infrastructure projects, in particular ECC Option A and C.

    * Experience in undertaking Subcontractor Audits.

    * Experience in producing accurate monthly reports, including producing forecasts to complete, Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) and Earned Value Analysis.

    * Understanding of building construction and the associated packages of works

    The candidate will be self-motivated, disciplined and commercially astute with the ability to identify, analyse and develop responses to commercial risks, taking ownership and responsibility. Shall have oversight of the implementation and ongoing assurance that the project’s governance and any contract specific requirements are adhered to.

    Good communication and customer facing skills, along with working as part of a team promoting our JV culture and values. Will consider problems as a challenge, collect information relevant to the problem, be disciplined in ascertaining the root cause, identify and develop a practical solution, communicate the findings and implement action to resolve the problem.

    Main Responsibilities

    Assisting in the Management of commercial personnel responsible for the following activities:

    1. Main Contract management and administration

    2. Supply chain management (including supply chain Subcontract administration)

    3. Commercial Document Control

    4. Cost capture and control

    5. Commercial reporting

    6. Planning & programme management

    The Ideal Candidate

    * Post-graduate commercial experience in the construction industry with demonstrable track record of achievement

    * Demonstrable financial and commercial acumen

    * Proven negotiating and team-working skills demonstrating the ability to motivate, develop and lead teams to deliver to or above target levels of performance

    * Extensive experience of drafting effective contractual correspondence and the facilitation of collaborative solutions

    * Extensive experience of setting up and/or operating office management systems including filing systems and document control and distribution.

    * Extensive experience of technical minute taking at contractual meetings and able to demonstrate the ability to collate information, prepare reports, payment certificates and interim financial reports and closeout reports.

    * Demonstrable legal, contractual and construction knowledge and experience

    * Experience in implementing and delivering strategic objectives and associated change programmes

    * Experience of developing & implementing procurement and contract strategies

    * Confidence and ability to assert influence

    * A creative, strategic and innovative approach to problem-solving

    * Practical approach, logical thought process and a methodical way of working

    * The ability to constantly improve and evolve as a commercial leader, taking account of and enabling our company’s corporate strategy

    * Experience in the set up and monitoring of self delivery works
