How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are recruiting for an experienced CNC Lathe Programmer to join a leading manufacturer of precision components based in the Dudley area. This is a hands‑on role involving setting, operating and programming CNC lathes - including twin‑spindle and multi‑bar feed systems to support high‑quality, efficient production.

    The Role:

    You will be responsible for programming and running CNC lathes to produce precision components to engineering specifications. This includes machine setup, tooling adjustments, quality checks and supporting continuous improvement across the shop floor.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Machine Setup & Tooling

    *

    Set up CNC lathes, load materials, secure workpieces and install tooling/fixtures.

    *

    Select, adjust and offset cutting tools to ensure accurate machining.

    CNC Operation & Programming

    *

    Programme, set and operate CNC lathes using G‑code.

    *

    Optimise machining processes and monitor machine performance.

    *

    Work from detailed engineering drawings and specifications.

    Quality Assurance

    *

    Inspect and measure components using micrometers, Verniers, gauges, comparators and height gauges.

    *

    Carry out in‑process checks and support CMM inspection (training provided).

    *

    Maintain accurate production and quality records.

    Collaboration & Support

    *

    Work closely with production supervisors and quality teams.

    *

    Provide informal guidance to junior operators when required.

    Health, Safety & Compliance

    *

    Follow all company and statutory health & safety procedures.

    *

    Ensure compliance with ISO and internal quality standards.

    Skills & Experience Required:

    Technical Skills

    *

    Strong CNC programming skills (G‑code essential).

    *

    CNC setting and operating experience.

    *

    Ability to interpret engineering drawings.

    *

    Skilled in precision measuring instruments.

    *

    CAD/CAM experience desirable (training available).

    Experience:

    *

    5+ years’ CNC machining experience in turning/lathe environments.

    *

    Proven ability to meet production targets while maintaining quality.

    *

    Apprenticeship, vocational training or formal CNC qualification preferred.

    *

    Ongoing training provided.

    Personal Attributes:

    *

    Strong problem‑solving ability.

    *

    Good communication and teamwork skills.

    *

    High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

    Working Hours:

    * Monday to Thursday 8am - 4.15pm

    * Friday 8am - 3.30pm
