How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical Bias

    Are you a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer looking for a Monday to Friday days role with an established manufacturer?

    We're recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join a successful packaging manufacturer based in York.     The Role

    Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for maintaining a wide range of production machinery through planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support.

    You'll also be involved in continuous improvement projects, helping to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime across the site.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery.

    * Respond quickly to mechanical breakdowns to minimise downtime.

    * Diagnose and repair faults on conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, motors, pumps and pneumatic systems.

    * Support continuous improvement and reliability projects.

    * Record maintenance activities using the CMMS system.

    * Work closely with production to maximise plant performance.

    * Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures.

    About You

    We're looking for someone who has:

    * Previous experience as a Maintenance Engineer within manufacturing.

    * A strong mechanical maintenance background.

    * Experience working with conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, hydraulics and pneumatics.

    * Mechanical engineering qualifications (Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent).

    * Basic electrical fault-finding skills would be advantageous.

    * A proactive approach with excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
