How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Source, assess and develop UK and international suppliers.
Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms and supply agreements.
Monitor supplier performance across cost, quality and delivery.
Work closely with production, quality, logistics and finance teams.
Review stock levels and place orders to prevent shortages and excess inventory.
Analyse market trends and identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve supply-chain performance.
Maintain accurate purchasing data, records and supplier information within the ERP system.
Ensure purchasing activities comply with company procedures and relevant quality and regulatory standards.

    You will need:

Previous purchasing or procurement experience gained within an engineering, manufacturing or electronics environment.
Experience buying technical components, materials or production-related products.
Strong supplier-management and commercial negotiation skills.
Experience using ERP or MRP systems.
Good Microsoft Excel and data-analysis skills.
The ability to manage multiple orders, priorities and deadlines.
Strong communication, problem-solving and stakeholder-management skills.
    Excellent attention to detail.
A relevant degree or procurement qualification would be advantageous but is not essential where supported by suitable industry experience.

    Package

    £45,000 basic salary.
    Performance-related bonus.
Hybrid working, with two days per week from home.
    Bupa private medical cover.
    Comprehensive additional benefits package.
    Monday-to-Friday working hours.
Development opportunities within an established engineering and manufacturing organisation.
If you are an experienced Buyer from an engineering, manufacturing or electronics background and would like to find out more, please apply with your current CV
