How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    R&D Engineer

    Oxfordshire

    £30,000 - £60,000 + Benefits

    An innovative engineering company developing cutting edge industrial technology is looking for an R&D Engineer to join its growing research and development team. Applications are welcomed from both recent engineering graduates and experienced engineers looking to develop their careers within a highly technical environment.

    The company designs and develops advanced engineering systems for a range of high technology industrial applications. Working at the forefront of product innovation, they combine precision engineering, automation, electronics and software to create sophisticated equipment used by customers around the world.

    This is a varied, hands on role where you will contribute to the design, development, assembly and evaluation of new technologies, working alongside experienced engineers across mechanical, electrical, optics and software disciplines.

    Responsibilities

    * Support the design and development of new products and technologies.

    * Assist with the build, integration and testing of prototype systems.

    * Work on multidisciplinary engineering projects from concept through to evaluation.

    * Carry out experimental work, testing and technical investigations.

    * Analyse results and recommend design improvements.

    * Produce engineering documentation, reports and technical drawings where required.

    * Support the transition of new products from development into manufacture.

    * Collaborate with colleagues and suppliers to solve complex engineering challenges.

    Requirements

    * Degree qualified, or equivalent experience, in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, Physics or a related engineering discipline.

    * An interest in research and development, product development or complex engineering systems.

    * Strong analytical and practical problem solving skills.

    * Comfortable working within a laboratory, workshop and office environment.

    * Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.

    Desirable Experience

    * Precision engineering.

    * Automation or motion control.

    * CAD design.

    * Scientific or industrial instrumentation.

    * Electronics or embedded systems.

    * Product development or prototype engineering.

    * Manufacturing equipment or machinery.
