How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    CMM Programmer

    Salary: £32,000 - £35,000 per annum + benefits

    The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced CMM Programmer to play a key role in ensuring the quality, accuracy, and compliance of precision-manufactured components. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented quality professional with strong metrology experience and a passion for continuous improvement.

In this role, you will be responsible for programming and operating Mitutoyo Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), developing robust inspection routines, and supporting manufacturing teams through accurate dimensional verification and quality assurance activities.

Working closely with engineering, quality, and production teams, you will help drive improvements in manufacturing precision while ensuring products meet customer specifications and industry quality standards.

    Key Responsibilities

Develop, modify, validate, and optimise CMM programs using MCOSMOS (including CAT1000) from CAD models and engineering drawings.
Carry out dimensional inspections on first-off, in-process, and finished components using CMM equipment and conventional inspection tools.
Interpret complex engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) requirements.
Analyse inspection results and generate detailed reports to support quality and customer requirements.
Identify non-conformances and work collaboratively with engineering and production teams to investigate root causes and implement corrective actions.
Ensure inspection programs are accurate, repeatable, and aligned with product specifications and tolerance requirements.
Support new product introduction activities through the development of inspection methodologies and verification processes.
Maintain and verify the performance of CMM equipment, ensuring calibration requirements are met.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and process capability.
Promote a culture of quality excellence across the manufacturing environment.

    About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Proven experience in a CMM Programmer position within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
Strong proficiency with MCOSMOS CMM programming software, including CAT1000.
Excellent understanding of GD&T, metrology principles, and engineering drawings.
Experience inspecting complex manufactured components to tight tolerances.
Familiarity with quality management systems such as ISO 9001.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical data.
High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality-focused outcomes.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
Confidence using a range of precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, verniers, height gauges, and gauges.

    What's on Offer?

In return, you'll receive a competitive package designed to support your professional and personal wellbeing, including:

    Salary of £32,000 - £35,000 per annum
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
    Company pension scheme
    Life assurance
    Professional membership/subscription support
    Flexible benefits package
    Ongoing training and development opportunities
    Supportive and collaborative working environment
    Opportunities for career progression

    Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to join a quality-driven engineering environment where your expertise will make a direct impact on product quality, manufacturing performance, and customer satisfaction. You'll be part of a team that values technical excellence, continuous improvement, and professional development.
