How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Project Manager – Refurbishment Scheme

    Location: Durham

    Job Type: Freelance 

    Sector: Construction – Refurbishment & Fire Safety

    Our client is a well-established main contractor seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the delivery of a live refurbishment and fire safety project at a prison in Durham.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-profile scheme involving fire safety upgrades, window replacement, and refurbishment works within a secure Ministry of Justice environment.

    The Role

    As Project Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the project, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards. You will coordinate subcontractors, manage client relationships, and ensure compliance with all prison security procedures.

    Key Responsibilities

    Overall management of site operations from inception through to completion.

    Deliver fire safety improvement works, refurbishment, and window replacement packages.

    Manage programme, budgets, subcontractors, and site teams.

    Ensure all health & safety legislation and company procedures are adhered to.

    Liaise with the client, design teams, and key stakeholders.

    Produce progress reports and attend regular project meetings.

    Ensure works are completed to the highest quality standards while maintaining programme.

    Requirements

    Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering refurbishment projects.

    Experience managing fire safety or passive fire protection works is advantageous.

    Previous Ministry of Justice (MoJ) or prison project experience is highly desirable.

    Strong knowledge of health & safety and CDM regulations.

    Excellent communication and leadership skills.

    SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid certificates.

    Ability to obtain or already hold the necessary security clearance for prison projects
