How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Technical Director - Sustainability & Climate

    A highly respected environmental consultancy with an outstanding reputation for delivering technically excellent advice across some of the UK's most significant development, infrastructure and regeneration projects is looking to appoint a Technical Director or Associate Director - Sustainability & Climate to support the continued growth of its expanding team.

    Following sustained success, the business is investing further in its Climate & Sustainability offering and is seeking an experienced professional who can play a key role in its next phase of growth. Renowned for its collaborative culture, technical excellence and long-standing client relationships, the consultancy offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-profile projects while providing genuine autonomy and a clear pathway into strategic leadership.

    This role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys combining technical delivery with client engagement, team leadership and business development. You'll have the opportunity to shape the direction of an expanding service area while helping clients respond to the UK's evolving climate and sustainability agenda.

    The Opportunity

    Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll lead the delivery of climate and sustainability projects across a diverse portfolio of development, infrastructure and regeneration schemes.

    You'll work closely with clients from the earliest stages of projects through to delivery, providing strategic advice while helping to grow both the team and its wider service offering.

    What You'll Be Doing

    Lead the delivery of carbon and climate change projects from inception through to completion.
    Manage key client relationships and act as a trusted technical adviser.
    Oversee climate and carbon assessments as part of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA).
    Deliver Net Zero strategies, decarbonisation plans and wider sustainability advice.
    Prepare and review high-quality technical reports.
    Mentor and support junior consultants and emerging technical specialists.
    Contribute to business development, tender submissions and winning new work.
    Collaborate with colleagues across a range of environmental disciplines.
    Help shape the future growth of the Climate & Sustainability team.Project Experience

    You'll have the opportunity to work across a wide variety of projects, including:

    Carbon and greenhouse gas assessments.
    Climate risk and resilience studies.
    Net Zero roadmaps and decarbonisation strategies.
    Whole life and embodied carbon assessments.
    ESG and sustainability advisory.
    Circular economy assessments.

    Planning policy and environmental legislation.What They're Looking For

    They're keen to speak with experienced consultants who can demonstrate:

    A strong background in climate change, carbon or sustainability consultancy.
    An excellent understanding of UK planning policy and environmental legislation.
    Experience delivering climate and carbon assessments, ideally within the EIA process.
    Strong project management and financial management skills.
    Excellent report writing and technical review experience.
    Experience leading, mentoring or managing technical teams.
    A commercial mindset, with experience supporting business development.
