How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Runcorn
    Start Date: 3rd September 2026
Duration: Full-time, Long-Term Supply (Term Time Only)

    About the Role

We are working with a welcoming primary school in Runcorn that is seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated SEND team from September.

This rewarding role involves providing tailored 1:1 support for two pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), with the majority of your time spent supporting a Year 6 pupil with autism and significant Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) traits. Support will be delivered through shorter, structured sessions across the school day, following recommendations from the Educational Psychologist to maximise engagement and wellbeing.

This is an excellent opportunity for a compassionate, experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about helping children with additional needs thrive.

    Key Responsibilities

Provide personalised 1:1 support for two pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition.
Deliver autism-friendly strategies to promote engagement, learning and emotional regulation.
Support pupils with communication, social interaction and independence.
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and external professionals.
Adapt support throughout the day to meet changing pupil needs.
Provide support for other pupils across the school when required.

    About You

We are looking for someone who has:

Significant experience supporting children with autism within a primary school.
A strong understanding of autism-friendly approaches and best practice.
Experience supporting pupils with PDA traits or demand-avoidant behaviours.
Confidence managing behaviours positively using a calm and consistent approach.
    Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Patience, resilience and flexibility in a dynamic school environment.
Previous experience in a 1:1 Teaching Assistant role.

    What We Offer

A rewarding long-term opportunity within a supportive primary school.
Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement.
    Competitive daily pay.
Opportunity to make a genuine difference to pupils with additional needs.
Potential for the role to continue while the school recruits permanently.
