How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Description

    The Site Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the construction site to ensure the successful delivery of school construction projects. The role involves managing day-to-day site operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers to maintain project timelines and quality standards. The Site Manager leads the site team, monitors progress, manages resources effectively, and ensures that all works comply with relevant legislation and client requirements.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    Plan, organise and control site operations to ensure efficient workflow and project completion within agreed timeframes and budgets.
    Monitor and enforce compliance with health and safety policies, including ensuring that all workers hold appropriate certifications and follow safe working practises.
    Manage subcontractors and suppliers on site, coordinating their activities to prevent delays and resolve issues promptly.
    Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality of work, and adherence to specifications, particularly focusing on fire alarm and ventilation systems.
    Maintain accurate and up-to-date site records, including daily progress reports, risk assessments, and site diaries.
    Ensure effective communication with project stakeholders, including clients, consultants, and local authorities.
    Oversee the implementation of asbestos awareness measures and other environmental controls on site.
    Lead and motivate the site workforce, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and professionalism.
    Manage site logistics, including delivery schedules, storage of materials and equipment, and waste management.
    Respond promptly to any site emergencies or incidents, taking appropriate action and reporting as necessary.

    Required Qualifications

    Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certification.
    Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
    Valid First Aid qualification.
    Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
    Asbestos Awareness training.
    Fire Marshall certification.
    Full, valid driving licence.

    Education

    A minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Construction Site Management or an equivalent recognised qualification is preferred. Candidates with relevant experience and certifications will also be considered.

    Experience

    Proven experience working as a Site Manager on school construction projects or similar education sector developments.
    Demonstrable experience managing fire alarm installation and ventilation systems on site.
    Experience in supervising multi-disciplinary teams and managing subcontractors on construction sites.
    Proven track record of maintaining health and safety standards and compliance on site.

    Knowledge and Skills

    Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes, site management principles, and relevant legislation.
    Strong understanding of health and safety regulations specific to construction environments.
    Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
    Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
    Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise confidently with clients, contractors, and site personnel.
    Competency in using site management software and Microsoft Office applications.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Additional health and safety certifications beyond the minimum requirements.
    Experience with sustainable construction practises and environmental management on site.
    Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes.

    Working Conditions

    The role requires working predominantly on active construction sites in varying weather conditions. The Site Manager is expected to wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
