How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Looking to come off the tools? Are you an Electrical Engineer, Electronics Technician, Field Service Engineer or Installation Engineer looking for a role that offers greater stability, better work-life balance and genuine long-term career development?
Perhaps you're tired of spending your days travelling between customer sites, being on call, working weekends or battling the British weather.

If you'd still like to use your technical knowledge and fault-finding skills every day but from a modern office environment - this could be exactly what you've been looking for.

Our client is one of the UK's leading manufacturers of automatic gates, traffic barriers, automatic doors and access control systems. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Technical Support Engineer to join their experienced technical team in Basingstoke.

Please note: This is not an IT Helpdesk role. We are looking for engineers with an electrical, electronics, automation or electro-mechanical background.

The Role: As a Technical Support Engineer, you'll become the first point of contact for installers, engineers and customers across the UK, providing technical advice and helping diagnose faults across a wide range of entrance automation products.
Every day is different. One moment you'll be helping an engineer commission an automatic gate system remotely, the next you'll be identifying electrical faults, assisting with programming or recommending replacement components.

You'll receive comprehensive manufacturer training and be supported by an experienced technical team until you're fully confident across the product range.
