How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title – Project Engineer
    Location – Birmingham (2 Hybrid days)
    Salary - £45,000

    Our client, a leading machine manufacturer within the FMCG market are seeking a Project engineer to join the team. The business has continued to be success full throughout the UK and EMEA and have multiple exciting projects.

    Main Purpose of the role
    The Project Engineer designs, integrates and delivers automated packaging and processing solutions across the full project lifecycle. The role turns customer requirements into safe, compliant and cost-effective solutions, supporting projects from proposal to commissioning and handover. Working with customers, suppliers, Project Managers and internal teams, the Project Engineer owns the technical delivery, driving standardisation, IP protection and continuous improvement.

    Technical Solution Development

    Develop technical solutions that meet customer, commercial and operational needs.
    Support proposals with technical input, solution definition and risk identification.
    Help improve conversion rates by developing robust, deliverable solutions.
    Promote standard, reusable engineering solutions where appropriate.
    Ensure solutions are compliant, practical and cost-effective.Layout & Design

    Produce and maintain 2D GA drawings.
    Create and maintain 3D line layouts using approved CAD software.
    Develop installation, interface and equipment layouts.
    Review supplier drawings and technical documents.
    Support design reviews and layout optimisation.
    Maintain designs within approved CAD and PLM systems.Project Delivery

    Support project planning and delivery across the lifecycle.
    Coordinate technical activities with internal teams, customers and suppliers.
    Track engineering deliverables and actions.
    Support schedules and milestone delivery.
    Take part in project reviews and customer updates.
    Deliver engineering activities to project commitments.Supplier & System Integration

    Coordinate technical activities with suppliers and subcontractors.
    Manage equipment interfaces across suppliers and technologies.
    Review technical submissions against project requirements.
    Support equipment integration and performance validation.
    Manage technical queries and engineering actions to completion.Risk & Change Management

    Identify and manage technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
    Maintain technical risk and action registers.
    Support engineering change control.
    Escalate risks affecting safety, quality, cost or schedule.
    Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement.Site Activities

    Support FAT and SAT.
    Assist with installation and commissioning as needed.
    Support technical issue resolution and snag management.
    Assist with project handover and close-out.Quality, Safety & Compliance

    Ensure solutions meet customer specifications, CE/UKCA requirements and legislation.
    Maintain accurate, controlled engineering documentation.
    Manage technical files and project documents within the PLM system.
    Support quality reviews, audits and compliance activities.
    Promote safe working practices throughout delivery.Innovation & Continuous Improvement

    Support standardised solutions and reusable design libraries.
    Help reduce technical errors, rework and duplicated effort.
    Promote standard products and technologies where appropriate.
    Spend around 10% of time researching and applying new technologies, tools and best practice.
    Support continuous improvement across engineering and project delivery.What skills are we looking for?
    To be successful in this role you must be a technically capable and commercially aware Project Engineer with proven experience delivering capital equipment projects within the food manufacturing or food processing industry.
