How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Design the Next Generation of Industrial Valve Technology

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Valve Design Engineer to join a well-established and growing engineering manufacturer with an excellent reputation for designing and delivering high-performance valve solutions for global industrial markets.

Working as part of a highly skilled engineering team, you will play a pivotal role in the development of new valve products while driving continuous improvement across an established product portfolio. This is an opportunity to influence innovative engineering solutions from concept through to manufacture, testing, and commercial delivery.

If you enjoy solving complex engineering challenges and want to work on technically demanding projects in a collaborative environment, we'd like to hear from you.

    The Opportunity

As a Senior Valve Design Engineer, you will lead the design and development of bespoke and standard valve products for demanding applications across sectors including energy, water, industrial process, and specialist engineering.

You'll work closely with manufacturing, quality, procurement, and project teams to ensure designs are practical, compliant, and deliver exceptional performance throughout the product lifecycle.

This role offers genuine technical ownership, the opportunity to mentor others, and the chance to contribute to future product innovation.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead the concept, design, development and validation of new valve products.

    * Drive continuous improvement of existing valve designs to enhance performance, reliability and manufacturability.

    * Produce detailed engineering designs, calculations and technical documentation.

    * Support manufacturing teams throughout production, assembly and testing to ensure successful product delivery.

    * Review customer specifications and translate technical requirements into practical engineering solutions.

    * Perform engineering calculations including stress, deflection, pressure containment and mechanical integrity assessments.

    * Select suitable materials based on pressure, temperature, corrosion and application requirements.

    * Develop engineering documentation including drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), risk assessments, design reports and manufacturing instructions.

    * Support valve testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and product validation activities.

    * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time and to specification.

    * Review engineering work to ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and internal quality requirements.

    * Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously while maintaining high technical standards.

    About You

We're looking for an experienced engineer with a passion for mechanical design and product development.

    You'll ideally have:

    * A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).

    * At least 5 years' experience in valve design or a closely related engineering field.

    * Strong knowledge of industrial valve design, operation and applications.

    * Experience designing products in accordance with standards such as ASME, API, ISO, BS and PED.

    * A thorough understanding of manufacturing processes including machining, casting, fabrication, assembly and testing.

    * Experience transferring designs into manufacture, including tolerances, fits, materials and BOM creation.

    * Knowledge of actuator sizing and valve operating characteristics.

    * Experience preparing Installation, Operation and Maintenance (IOM) documentation.

    * Competence using CAD software, preferably SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.

    * Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) would be advantageous.

    * Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical engineering mindset.

    * The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
