How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A Bristol-based temporary works specialist, providing in-house design, scaffolding, access, propping and shoring solutions across construction, heritage, marine, civil engineering and rail projects throughout England and Wales.

    As a Design Engineer, you will oversee the design and delivery of safe, compliant and efficient scaffolding solutions for construction and industrial projects. Working with a team of Design Engineers, you will work closely with the Pre-Contracts Director, clients and internal teams to ensure designs meet project requirements, industry standards and business objectives.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Undertake the design of innovative scaffolding and temporary works solutions, ensuring quality, safety and compliance with relevant standards.

    • Manage design projects from concept through to delivery, keeping work on time, within budget and aligned with client specifications.

    • Act as a key technical contact for clients, ensuring their requirements are understood and translated into practical design solutions.

    • Help mentor and develop the design team, supporting knowledge sharing, engagement and continuous professional development.

    • Collaborate with pre-contracts, sales, operations and other stakeholders to support seamless project delivery and business growth.

    • Keep up to date with industry regulations, technology and best practice, driving improvement and innovation within the design function.

    Key performance measures:

    • Designs delivered accurately, on time and within budget, with minimal rework or revisions required.

    • Full compliance with UK regulations, company policies and relevant standards including

    • Strong client and stakeholder satisfaction through clear communication, reliable service and practical design solutions.

    • Effective leadership, workload management and development of the design team.

    • Contribution to process improvements, tender support, innovation and the strategic growth of the design function.

    Required experience and knowledge:

    • Strong technical experience designing scaffolding systems, including suspended scaffolds, access towers and temporary structures.

    • Proven experience leading design teams and managing complex design workloads.

    • Confident working directly with clients to develop bespoke, practical and compliant scaffolding solutions.

    • Familiarity with relevant design software such as AutoCAD, Revit or similar engineering tools.

    • Good understanding of UK scaffolding, temporary works and health and safety requirements,
